Welch Elementary
Welch Elementary celebrated “Sweets with Someone Special”.
It was so fun to see our students start their day with a loved one and a sweet Servatii’s donut!
What an awesome community!
The Welch 1st through 3rd graders represented Welch so well as they traveled to Cincinnati Children’s Theater to watch “Madagascar” the musical! Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring this trip, it was a real treat for all!
The Welch/PRE final carnival planning committee is in full swing. We have over 20 people helping and plenty of room for more. Next meeting is March 5, at 6:30. Carnival is April 7, 10:00-2:00pm
Special Recognition from Welch-- SHOUT OUT TO BUS DRIVER CIARA BENTON!
I just wanted to give a shout out to an amazing bus driver that took the 3rd graders at Welch to the Taft Theater today. It was raining when we had to head back to school after the play and the windshield wipers were not working. She got us back safely and deserves some extra praise for a job well done!!!
Thanks again,
Susan Mendralski

Colerain Elementary
Congratulations to Mrs. Upton for being selected as the 2018 PTA Outstanding Educator of the Year.
We are very fortunate to have amazing teachers at Colerain Elementary.
The fourth and fifth graders at Colerain Elementary were delighted to welcome best-selling author Gordon Korman. Mr. Korman’s funny “what if” scenarios had students laughing and wondering “what if”.
This visit was sponsored by Joseph-Beth Booksellers and organized by Colerain’s Library assistant, Mrs. Brockhuis.
Colerain Elementary PTA held our first ever father/daughter dance tonight and will have a mother/son dance tomorrow night. They had a great turn out!

Congratulations to Mr. Flickinger on your well-deserved recognition as NWHS Teacher of the Year!
This winter season was an exciting and historical weekend for Northwest Athletics.
Out of the 8 offered Southwest Ohio Conference Winter Sports the Northwest Knights have claimed
FOUR Championships this season.
Boys Swimmer Elijah O'Conner qualified in 2 events this weekend!
Boys Bowling earned it's 5th consecutive SWOC Title this season.
Girls Bowling earned it's 6th consecutive SWOC Title this season and have not lost a league match since the league formed in 2013.
Boys Basketball claimed the SWOC Title on Friday, earning it's 4th straight title and 3rd consecutive outright Championship.
Girls Basketball claimed a share of the SWOC Title on Saturday with a win over Harrison. This is the Lady Knight's first league title since 2008!
This is the first time in DISTRICT history that both Boys and Girls Basketball programs
have won a league title in the same season!
I would also like to note that as great as the success we are having in competition this season is, our student athletes are maintaining our high academic standards as our student athlete GPA currently stands at a 3.25!
Butler Tech Teacher Dave Campbell has been nominated for Teacher of the Year through Ohio ACTE. Huge and amazing accomplishment and so deserving.

Cards Reaching Out!
Through Mrs. Barnett's connection with the National Art Education Association, she found out about a plea from a FL colleague of the Art Teacher who teaches at at Majorie Stoneman Douglas. She asked teachers from around the country to send artwork, beautiful hearts, and words of encouragement to the students at MSD High School in FL. Mrs. Barnett decided to buy some hearts this weekend and bring them in for her students to work on if they felt so inclined. She will be packaging these up at the end of the week and mailing them to the art teacher at MSD High School. Thought you might like to see some of their efforts.
The Youth Art Month (YAM) Flag contest is a statewide contest and the YAM Flag contest is a national contest, both sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association. An overall winner is chosen from grades K-12 for both the flag and graphic contest. The flag artwork is made into a flag that represents Ohio at the National Art Education Conference and the graphic artwork is made into posters to represent Ohio and used to promote and celebrate Youth Art Month in Ohio.
The students can also win at each grade level. The groups are grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. There is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner in each group and two honorable mentions awarded.
The winning students are honored in Columbus in March at a wonderful ceremony, that also includes the Youth Art Month Art Exhibition (YAM) and Young Peoples’ Art Exhibition (YPAE). It’s a great time to celebrate your student’s accomplishments.
This year’s theme was “Building Community Through Art.”
