AWESOME DAY! Thirteen Cardinals signed their letter to play at the next level. Congrats to the athletes, their families, theri coaches, and all of the teachers and coaches that have helped along the way!
It takes a village!
Colerain High School Student Senate collected over 20,000 bags from students in December and did a service project making bag mats for the homeless. Most mats take over 40 hours to make! One of our staff members, Mrs. Mitchell, also made a very large mat with handles. Student Senate members who made mats were Sophia Ausdenmoore, Rebekah Green, DJ Fox, Rachel Bickett, and Christin Ebner. We had many more bags than we were able to use- if anyone is interested in continuing this project, please contact me and I'll get bags to you.
Please take the time to congratulate the following students on their success at our district DECA Competition last Tuesday 1/30. The students had to take a test and compete in a role play against students from Harrison, NW, Badin, North College Hill and Ross. Here are the students who took top 5 in their event and I have marked the students heading on to State Competition! :)

Weigel
The Weigel Elementary "Math Family Night" happened on Thursday, February 1. To celebrate the Winter Olympics, and learn a little math too, families enjoyed the Weigel "Mini-Metric" Olympics. Everyone started with a pizza dinner together and then set out to estimate and measure during some amazing winter olympic math events.
Students participated in the distance activities "Paper Straw Javelin Throw", "The Paper Plate Discus", and "Cotton Ball Shot Put", measured the mass of marbles during "The Right-Handed Marble Grab", and finally found the area of their feet with the event "Big Foot Was Here". Students received a tape measure and worked with their family to determine their estimates before they competed in the events. After completing the event, they measured their results and checked how accurate their estimate was with their final results. Some amazing estimation occurred that night and some world records were definitely set. In the end, our math athletes made it to the podium and received their medals to the delight and applause of many family members, teachers and friends.
