On April 30th the Colerain High School Art Department took students from Tony Gilardi's 3D Design and Jennifer Newman's Art 3 classes on a field trip to Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, near Hamilton, Ohio. Students discovered this local Art treasure as they interacted with the permanent sculptures on display there, and created their own "nature installation" sculptures inspired by the artist Andy Goldsworthy. Art was discovered and created on a beautiful spring day!

The Drama Club performed the spring musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on April 20-23.  Congratulations to the cast and crew on a great show!

The Drama Club will be attending the Cappies Gala on May 27th.  The Cincinnati Cappies program recognizes excellence in high school theatre.  CHS Drama was nominated in 15 award categories including Best Play for their production of The Diary of Anne Frank.  They will be performing an excerpt of the show at Music Hall during the Gala.  A huge congratulations on the cast and crew!

NWHS

The cosmetology students at NWHS competed in their first Cosmo Bowl this year. The girls worked incredibly hard to prepare for this task, they had to answer state board questions and perform practical procedures. The following juniors took home the win:  Mia Boni, NiAsia Lyons, Krystal Miller and not pictured, Olivia Landfried.

Congratulations to Mrs. Danielle Stosur on being name NWLSD Representative for Celebrate Excellence Teacher of the Year

Brennan Moore competed in this year's PTA Reflections arts competition.
WHAT IS REFLECTIONS? The Ohio PTA, through National PTA, holds an annual cultural arts program, Reflections. Children in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit original works of art in six areas: literature, visual arts, photography, dance choreography, film production and music composition. .
Thousands of artworks were submitted. The theme this year was "Within Reach".

This year, two Northwest students were recognized at the state level. Emma Waywood won honorable mention in the category of Literature.
Brennan Moore won FIRST PLACE in the visual arts category in the state of Ohio! His work will go on to compete at the national level. :) This is the first time a Northwest art student has won first place at the state level. Brennan has been accepted to the Modern College of Design where he plans to study graphic design.
